Day 13 -It’s a Dark and Chili Day

1 Corinthians 2:10-12     …The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.

A couple years ago I was trying to gather all my necessary documents to renew my passport. I knew they were all in our fireproof box that we keep. The problem was the box was locked with a combination lock, and I had lost the pass code. I was so frustrated because I knew the information I sought was in that box, but there was no way to access it.

The verses above remind me of that day. God has freely given us a life of Grace, filled with Mercy, covered in Forgiveness, with endless access to Him, but we need the pass code to receive it. That pass code is the Spirit of God which we receive when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of our life. It is impossible to grab hold of all that God has for us, impossible to understand Him without receiving the Spirit. Do you wonder why the world thinks we are crazy or misguided because of our faith? They have not received the Spirit so they can’t begin to understand God. Maybe instead of being offended or hurt by those that speak against our faith, we can pray for God to open their hearts to receive Jesus. After all, they are only speaking against because they don’t understand.

Have you received the Spirit of God?

First Coffee in 13 Days

Okay – on to Day 13. This was a good day! I went to the mother land, better know as NutritionSmart. Seriously, I could spend hours in there looking at all the available food, but I managed to get out of there in under an hour. Yes, and hour… don’t judge me. One of the things I found there was a cold brew coffee by Califia Farms. It has almond milk and coconut creme in it. Although it was unsweetened and didn’t make my soul smile like my usual cup of coffee with creamer, it was very good. I think maybe my soul smirked, and then the caffeine kicked in and I was wide eyed and ready to take on the world. I channeled that energy by getting in out of Publix in record time. Okay, it was still about 45 minutes, but that is pretty good. I can feel you judging me, but reading labels takes time, I tell ya.

Once I got home, I cooked some no bean chili for my family. Do you want to know how I know I will never be able to recruit them to veganism? They won’t even eat beans in their chili. Pathetic. Anyway, I made them their chili and then cooked myself a 3-bean chili that is DELICIOUS.

It filled me up so much I couldn’t even finish my bowl. And for those looking at the picture, that is vegan cheese on top. Weird I know, but somehow satisfying.  Seriously though, the chili is so good that I am already looking forward to eating it tomorrow. Did I mention that I love food? And good food is worth planning your day around. Kind of like planning an outfit around a great pair of shoes. I posted a video of me making the chili on my Instagram story (@graciegrin). Or you can find the recipe I found on pinterest at Cadry’s Kitchen. I plan on checking out that site more because the recipes look incredible!

I ended my day by going to church. It was a good way to end the day and my pastor spoke what my heart needed to hear tonight. This series has been called Momentum. I will leave you with this quote from my message notes: “The Grace of God is the power of God to take the next step you need to take, and make the next decision you need to make. Where you end up in 2017 starts with the momentum you are making NOW.”

Be Blessed!
