Day 47 – The Orchestra

Tonight I am sharing a poem I wrote in 2011. It is a sonnet. I hope you enjoy!

The Orchestra

The drum creates the cadence much too fast
while rhythms of the bass entwine the ear.
The memories of days gone by appear
and usher in the failures of the past.

The brass abruptly interject their blast
to mock the insecurities so near.
The woodwinds play a melody of fear
as cellos harmonize with sorrows vast.

Yet as the music rises all around
consuming every thought inside the head,
the Living Word of God remains in place.

While images of yesteryear abound,
a confidence in Christ prevails instead –
to turn and face the music, now through Grace.
